Terms of Use
These terms govern your access to the BiyeLada website and the purchase of furniture made in our Khandyam studio. Reading them carefully before placing an order or commissioning a piece is part of the same care we ask of ourselves before the first plane stroke.
Who We Are and What This Agreement Covers
BiyeLada is a furniture workshop registered and operating from Khandyam, Regidi Amadalavalasa, Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, India. We handcraft furniture from documented reclaimed barn timber sourced across South India. These Terms of Use apply to every person who visits this website, browses our catalogue, requests a commission, or completes a purchase — whether in person at the studio, by telephone, or through the site's ordering process.
By continuing to use this website you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please close this page and contact us directly to discuss your needs another way.
Orders, Commissions, and Pricing
Prices displayed on this website are denominated in Indian Rupees (INR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated at checkout. Shipping charges and provenance certification fees are calculated separately and confirmed before any payment is finalised.
All standing-inventory pieces are subject to availability. Because each item is singular — one plank, one maker, one recorded history — a product shown as available may become unavailable between your session and your order confirmation. In such a case we will notify you promptly and offer either a full refund or the opportunity to begin a custom commission using comparable timber from the same batch.
Commission orders are governed by a separate written agreement signed before work begins. That agreement will specify timber source, dimensions, joinery method, finish, lead time, payment schedule, and provenance documentation. These Terms of Use apply alongside that agreement, not in place of it.
Payment and Deposits
Standing-inventory purchases require full payment at the time of order. Custom commissions require a non-refundable deposit of forty percent of the agreed price before timber is allocated to your piece. The remaining balance is due upon completion and before dispatch or collection. We reserve the right to pause work on a commission if a scheduled payment is more than fourteen days overdue.
All payments must be made through the channels confirmed in your order documentation. We do not accept payment by methods not listed in your invoice.
Nature of Reclaimed Material
Reclaimed barn timber is, by definition, not uniform. Every board carries the marks of its previous life: checks, saw kerfs, iron stains, weathered faces, and the dimensional irregularities introduced by decades of load-bearing. These characteristics are not defects — they are the material's biography and the reason each piece is unrepeatable.
By purchasing from BiyeLada you acknowledge that natural variation in colour, grain, surface texture, and minor dimensional tolerance is inherent to the product and does not constitute a fault or ground for return, except where a structural defect is present. Our makers photograph and document the working timber throughout construction; that record is available on request.
Intellectual Property
All text, photography, design elements, and documentation on this website — including provenance card formats, batch catalogues, and process descriptions — are the intellectual property of BiyeLada Workshop. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or adapt this content for commercial purposes without our prior written consent. Personal use, such as saving an image for reference before an in-studio consultation, is permitted.
Limitation of Liability
BiyeLada's liability in connection with any order is limited to the value of that order. We are not liable for indirect losses, including loss of use, loss of anticipated savings, or damage to goods stored on or near a delivered piece. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law in India.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. We would always prefer to resolve disagreements through direct conversation before any formal process is initiated; our contact details are in the footer of every page.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our studio practice, applicable law, or the way we take orders. The version published on this page at the time you place an order is the version that governs that transaction. We encourage you to check this page before beginning a new commission or purchase.
